Every training session involved some degree of conditioning.
Training sessions typically begin with a set of stretching and strength exercises to help everyone warm up and get ready for the session. These usually include floor exercises designed to build core strength.
Much of the most basic training we do is designed to develop strength, flexibility and relaxation, often with the addition of speed and power training as well. This is particularly the case with the traditional foundation training characteristic of Sum Nung Wing Chun.
Just before the end of each class we also do a session of intensive aerobic fitness training which consists of a range of punching and kicking techniques drawn from Wing Chun.
This is intended to provide fitness training for students as well as an opportunity for them to work on improving their speed, power and endurance.
One of the most important elements of Wing Chun is relaxation.
Breathing exercises (Chi Gung) and meditation are done at the conclusion of every class and are an important way of helping students to relax and to help the body recover from a strenuous training session.
